The Rosamond O'Brien Lowe Papers consist of four scrapbooks. Scrapbooks one, three, and four contain newspaper columns authored by Lowe, titled "Short Stops...", a commentary on contemporary issues. Scrapbook two contains newspaper clippings, photographs, birthday and Mother's Day cards, and a poem by Ruth Scott Hubbard entitled "Twas the Night After Christmas."

Rosamond O'Brien Lowe was born in Devils Lake (N.D.) on April 26, 1904 to Halvor and Jennie (Sampson) Thoe. Lowe was educated in public schools and attended Valley City State Teachers College for one year. She became involved in politics in 1937, when her first husband, Harry O'Brien, ran for the state legislature. Following his retirement in 1951, she was elected to the state senate in 1952 and served eight years. In 1959 Lowe met and married her second husband, Kenneth Lowe, a state representa...
